What You Need to Know About the Google My Business Short Name
You may have heard that Google announced some changes to Google My Business. Among them is a new logo display, the opportunity to upload a cover photo, and the ability to create a “short name” that acts as your personal URL.
With a short name, your business’s Google My Business page will be easier to navigate to. You’ll direct people to g.page/[businessname] and it’ll bring them right to your listing like this.
How to Claim Your Google My Business Short Name
Claiming your Google My Business short name is easy:
- Log in to the Google My Business dashboard.
- Select your business location.
- In the left-hand menu, select “info.”
- Scroll to “Add short name” and click the edit button.
- Choose your name and click apply.
- Start sharing!
It’s really that easy. Now, if your business has more than one location, you should know that each must choose a short name independently. (There’s no bulk action for choosing short names.)
Now all that’s left to do is start sharing!
